Air India rallied from a goal behind to beat Sporting Clube de Goa 3-1 in a round nine of the I-League match played at the Nehru stadium in Goa, on Wednesday.

Sandesh Gadkari cancelled the home side’s eighth minute opener scored by James Moga with a 34th minute strike, and completed his brace in the 85thminute while Ezeh Henry’s 90th minute goal sealed the win for the away side.

Sporting Clube de Goa started without regular backs Samananda Singh and Mathew Gonsalves while the Airmen had Rahul Bhike and Sandesh Gadkari in front with Manandeep Singh and Collin Abranches on the two wings.

The Airmen had a chance to go ahead in the first minute itself, when Sandesh Gadkari headed Rahul Bheke's cross wide of the goal.
In the eighth minute, Lamine Tamba brought down James Moga, and Sporting surged ahead from the resulting free kick taken by Freiman Peixoto.

Air India were unfortunate to see goalkeeper Pawan Kumar spill the ball in his own net after Moga nodded the ball towards the goal.

Ekendra Singh’s side then missed a couple of chances to go further ahead with skipper Freiman Peixoto and Jovel Martins being the guilty party as they failed to truly test the keeper, except when the latter forced a save from rival keeper Pawan Kumar in the 26th minute.

Air India scored the equaliser in the 34th minute when Manandeep ran down the right wing and sent a cross across the goal-mouth to Sandesh Gadkari who had the easy job to nod the ball past a stranded Gerard D’Mello.

Sporting tried to hit on the counter, but Jovel Martins’ cross was headed out by James Moga before they almost went down by two goals as D’Mello waited on to catch Collin Abranches' cross while Manandeep got in front of him but despairingly headed wide.
