Nigel de Jong : Winning The Premier League Is Our Main Target!

Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong insists that the club will not let their Euro heartache distract them from their Premier League title charge.

The Eastlands club bowed out of their maiden Champions League campaign on Wednesday night despite picking up 10 points in their ‘Group of Death’.

However, Dutch international De Jong insists lifting the domestic crown was always their top target for this season and maintains they remain firmly on course.

City hold a five-point lead over nearest rivals Manchester United going into matches against Chelsea and Arsenal and De Jong vowed: “We won’t be affected by this setback.

“Winning the league will make up for this. We didn’t go through in the Champions League but we can’t let that distract us from our main target — and that’s winning the Premier League.

“We are still in with a chance of four cups. We are not despairing about the season because it’s still early.

“It’s the first year City were in the Champions League and expectations were high.
