A second-half penalty by Jordi Gomez gave Wigan Athletic a priceless 2-1 win at West Brom on Saturday.
It was the second away game running that Wigan had come from behind to win.
Gomez coolly slotted home after Victor Moses had been tripped by Steven Reid in the penalty area.
Both players had earlier scored their first goals of the season with Reid scoring after 33 minutes from a free-kick before Moses equalised five minutes later with a curled effort into the top corner.
West Brom pushed for an equaliser but despite having several chances they could not find the back of the net.
Wigan almost conceded an early goal when Chris Brunt got on to the end of Jerome Thomas’s cross but could only volley over.
Brunt then hit a thunderbolt from 20 yards against the bar with Ali Al Habsi beaten after a West Brom free-kick was cleared to him.
Still inside the opening five minutes, Jonas Olsson had two chances from crosses but could not find the target.
Wigan soon got a grip on the game with their 5-4-1 formation stifling any further attacks, before threatening as first Moses shot wide from distance and then a scramble in the West Brom penalty area saw Ben Foster just get to the ball before Connor Sammon.
At the other end only a last-ditch block from Ronnie Stam stopped a goal-bound Jerome Thomas shot after he had been slipped in down the left by Peter Odemwingie.
The game needed inspiration and it got after the half-hour mark.
Caldwell was penalised for a shirt tug on Odemwingie by the linesman and from 25 yards out Reid, who scored a thunderbolt against the same opposition when in a Blackburn Rovers shot, curled it over the wall and into the top right-hand corner with Al Habsi rooted to the spot.
Minutes later Wigan were level and it was another great strike, this time from Moses.
Diame's cross from the left bounced off Mulumbu allowing Moses to curl a beautiful shot into the far corner to score his first goal for 13 matches since his goal against the same opposition last season.
The second half began quietly with Reid being booked for a late challenge on Moses. Moments later the full-back caught Moses with his trailing leg in the penalty area.
Spared a second yellow card by Mike Dean, Reid was not spared the sight of his team going behind as for the fourth home game in a row they conceded a penalty, this time Gomez the beneficiary as he sent Al Habsi the wrong way.
The home side, stunned by Wigan's goal, pressed forward but despite putting several dangerous crosses into the area were unable to beat Al Habsi who repeated his heroics from his last time in the Midlands against Wolves by saving a Long header at his near post.
Despite having a late free-kick, West Brom, who have the worst home record in the league, could not salvage a point.
