Sven Goran Eriksson is very interested in taking over as manager of Anzhi Makhachkala, according to his representative.
Former England boss Eriksson, who is currently unemployed having been sacked by Leicester City last month, is looking to get right back into management and has already been linked with a number of posts at club and international level.
Anzhi, bankrolled by Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, have already attracted the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Roberto Carlos and Yuri Zhirkov to Dagestan, and are now searching for a manager with a similarly high-profile to increase their international standing.
Guus Hiddink and Fabio Capello have both been touted as potential targets, but now Eriksson has publicly declared himself interested in the vacancy through his representative, Carlos Carvalho.
"Yes, it is very attractive," Carvalho said of the Anzhi vacancy to Swedish newspaper Expressen. "The club (and Eriksson) know each other from the past."
"The club wants to win the league and it's perfect for Sven that they have ambitions."
Meanwhile, Miroslav Klose has revealed that he turned down a number of lucrative offers from Russian clubs to join Lazio.
The 33-year-old striker was very much a man in demand following the expiration of his contract with Bayern Munich at the end of last season, and eventually decided to join Lazio - even though there was more money to be made elsewhere.
"I could have moved to Russia, earned more money and felt more relaxed," the Germany international told Corriere dello Sport. "But I chose another option and joined Lazio."
"I’m hungry for football and really want new victories. I need new challenges and Lazio is a great challenge for me."
Klose has already established himself as a fan favourite at the Stadio Olimpico, having netted six times in 11 Serie A appearances so far this season, and recently expressed his desire to finish his career at Lazio.
