After acquiring billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov in January, the Dinamo Stadium outfit have been linked with the stars of Europe, and poached Eto'o from Inter Milan for an estimated 28 million euros.
Eto'o said he believes Anzhi could persuade Barcelona's Lionel Messi to join the club, hinting that several big names have shown interest in moving to Russia.
"Lots of players call me. You would be surprised at their names," he told France Football.
"A few years ago, when a player was having difficulties with his club, they would be linked with Chelsea. Now, they are linked with Anzhi."
A move for Messi would seem unlikely, given the Argentine's repeated commitment to Barca, but Eto'o says anything is possible at his ambitious new club.
"Why not Leo?" he added. "Here (at Anzhi), nothing is impossible."
"The owner (Kerimov) can buy who he likes, although the player must also want to come here - and that is one of his missions."
"I just reply to players who want to know about it here and give some clues to the owners from time to time."
