Roberto Mancini aims atleast two trophies

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini aims to collect at least two trophies this season, despite exiting the Champions League on Wednesday.

A 2-1 win over Bayern Munich at Etihad Stadium was not enough for City, who finished behind Group A leaders Bayern and one point behind second-placed Napoli on 10 points.

Despite the disappointing exit in their maiden Champions League campaign, Mancini was quick to focus on what the club could achieve this season after relegation to the Europa League.

"We are disappointed, this is normal because we wanted to go to the second stage, now we can do nothing. We got 10 points but it was not enough," Mancini said.

"I think that we are not (Manchester) United, or Bayern Munich or Real Madrid, for us to try and win the Europa League is an important trophy. It is clear that we wanted to win the Champions League but it is not possible, so we play in the Europa League and it is an important trophy."

"I am sure that we will improve our team for next year but it is important to finish well this year. When I say to finish well I mean we should maybe win two trophies this year, and if we win two trophies I think that our mentality will be strong."

"The Premier League is the priority, (and so is) the Europa League, the FA Cup, the Carling Cup. I think that if we are lucky and we do not have a lot of injuries in the future then I think we have a team that can play in all competitions."

City travel to London on Monday to face a Chelsea side with renewed confidence under Andre Villas-Boas.

The former Porto manager's fiery address to the media after their 3-0 win over Valencia at Stamford Bridge reflected his fighting qualities after guiding Chelsea to the second stage of the Champions League as the top side in Group E.

City maintain a five-point lead over Manchester United on top of the Premier League, but a win for fourth-placed Chelsea could change the complexion of the season.

"I think that it is good to play this game (against Chelsea) because it is an important game against a top team. But if we want to win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea we need to have a strong game. I think we should do well, like when we played against Tottenham maybe," he said.

"I think that Villas-Boas is a good manager, but when you arrive at a new team I think that you need time. For all the managers it is difficult to change everything in two or three months. It is impossible."

"And now I think that Chelsea have improved in the last three or four weeks. Chelsea is a fantastic team, Chelsea has important players, with experience."
