The 30-year-old Serbian suffered the injury in Manchester United's shock 2-1 loss to Swiss outfit FC Basel on Wednesday, which knocked the English Premier League outfit out of the UEFA Champions League.
Vidic had been linked with a move to Serie A leaders Juventus, but the defender's representative, Silvano Martina, said his injury would end the rumours.
"The interest of Juventus? It seems to me out of place to talk about it, after the injury to the cruciate ligament yesterday," Martina told calciomercato.com.
"He'll be out of action for several months, so even if it were true, now it would have no sense to talk about it."

With Vidic sidelined for some time, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will rely on the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans as his group of central defenders.
